Petra Chander

The artist Petra Chander was born in Leverkusen (a town next to Cologne) Germany. She is an autodidact.

The desire to paint runs like a leitmotif through her family. Already her father Ulrich Larze and her grandfather shared her passion of painting and left some beautiful sketches and drawings.

The inspiration for her pictures came while writing her book "Die Maid". The passages of some of the most intriguing chapters are captivated in her vibrant paintings. If you like you could call the book " Die Maid " a picture book!

The bold and bright paintings tell us about the things in life everybody is sooner or later entangled in. Change, loss, love, move, happiness, hope. Every facet and shade of our daily living.

Petra loves oil colours and applies these lavishly thick on canvas which evokes a kind of 3D effect.
